Shout joyfully to God,

all you on earth;

sing of his glorious name;

give him glorious praise”  Psalm 66:1-2

We are very fortunate to have an active Music Ministry here at Holy Cross.

Presently there are six groups that provide music for liturgy on a regular basis.

Each group possesses its own style and welcomes new membership.  In addition to providing service, the choirs function similar to a Small Church Community wherein the members pray together, play together and support each other through fellowship.

Regardless of your level of musicianship (whether you are a trained musician, or a “shower singer”) and whether you sing or play an instrument, there is a place for YOU

Individual rehearsal schedules and membership information may be obtained by calling the director(s) listed below or checking with any member of the group you might be interested in joining.

CONTEMPORARY CHOIR

MISSION STATEMENT

We, the Contemporary choir, are an organization of parish volunteers who, having acknowledged our call by God to this specific ministry, profess a responsibility not only to the gathered assembly, but to each other.  We pray for and dedicate ourselves to the support of and continued enhancement of the Liturgy of the Word and Eucharist.

We are called to ignite God’s spirit within each one of us through music.  As a member of the gathered assembly, we welcome and express warm acceptance to all who desire to worship in this house.  This is accomplished in our mannerisms, presence, mutual respect and our musical capabilities; always keeping at the forefront our primary objective of leading and inspiring the gathered assembly in song.  As a group we are committed to this mission but above all else, we work, pray and play together as a genuine Christian community.

        So, after reading this very wordy mission statement, you probably have a lot of burning questions like:  how do I join, do I have to audition, what is the age limit, when do you rehearse and sing.  Here are the answers to those questions:

  We do NOT audition prospective members, actually they audition US!  Although we take our ministry seriously, that isn’t always reflected in our rehearsals.

  Because our ministry also has a social element, we recommend that members be at   least 18 years old or a senior in high school.  (We refer younger members to the Teen Choir.)

  We rehearse on the Wednesday prior the Sunday that we sing, and additional rehearsals as needed, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the choir rehearsal room.

                          We sing every other Sunday alternating with the Teen Choir at 10:30 mass,

                            and other masses as scheduled.

They who sing,

                pray twice!”
